Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**NLC2** is a research-stage nanostructured lipid carrier formulation encapsulating a *Cannabis sativa* extract containing quantified cannabidiol and cannabidiolic acid. It was developed as a lipid-nanoparticle delivery system intended to support brain delivery of the phytocannabinoid extract for epilepsy. In mouse pentylenetetrazole seizure studies, NLC2 increased latencies to myoclonic, clonic, and tonic seizures, consistent with anticonvulsant activity. The formulation demonstrated sub-200 nm particle size, negative zeta potential, high encapsulation efficiency, enhanced antioxidant capacity relative to the free extract, and prolonged in-vitro release. NLC2 is an academic preclinical formulation rather than a marketed medicine or an assigned-INN drug.
