NLT-101 is a potent, selective, and orally bioavailable small molecule agonist of the orphan G protein-coupled receptor 139 (GPR139). Developed by NeuroLyze, the compound is designed to target GPR139 receptors primarily localized in the habenula and striatum, brain regions implicated in the regulation of dopamine and serotonin signaling. By activating GPR139, NLT-101 aims to modulate the neurocircuitry associated with the negative symptoms and cognitive deficits of schizophrenia, which are often inadequately treated by standard antipsychotics. The drug is also being explored for its potential neuroprotective effects in neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson's disease.
