Overview

**NM-136** is a long-acting, highly specific humanized monoclonal antibody that targets glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), also known as gastric inhibitory polypeptide. It prevents GIP from binding to its receptor, thereby decreasing GIP activity, reducing nutrient absorption from the intestine, and limiting nutrient storage without affecting appetite. This results in decreased fat deposition, weight loss, reduced abdominal fat, and improved lipid profiles in preclinical obesity models. Initially developed by Lobesity Investors LLC and later acquired by 9 Meters Biopharma, it is being advanced for obesity-related disorders, including potential use in Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS).[1][3][5][6][7]
