NM1157

NM1157 is a novel small-molecule inhibitor of interleukin-11 (IL-11) signaling, developed by Noxopharm as part of its Chroma platform. It is primarily being investigated for the treatment of arthrofibrosis (excessive joint scarring), particularly following total knee arthroplasty (TKA), and for managing synovial fibrosis in patients with end-stage knee osteoarthritis. IL-11 is a cytokine that acts downstream of TGF-β1 to drive fibrogenesis; by inhibiting this pathway, NM1157 reduces the production of Type 1 collagen in synovial fibroblasts. This targeted approach aims to address the underlying pathology of joint stiffness and pain without the broad immunosuppression associated with other treatments.
