Overview

NM504 is a microbiome modulator, described as a "cobiotic," developed by MicroBiome Therapeutics (formerly NuMe Health) for the management of type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, and obesity. It consists of a proprietary blend of concentrated prebiotic fibers and other plant-based ingredients designed to alter the gastrointestinal microbiome, specifically targeting the ratio of Bacteroidetes to Firmicutes. By shifting the microbial population, NM504 aims to improve insulin sensitivity, enhance glucose tolerance, and modulate gut hormones such as Glucagon-like Peptide-1 (GLP-1) and Peptide YY (PYY) to regulate appetite and satiety. The therapeutic is administered orally, often as a smoothie beverage, and has also been investigated for its potential to mitigate the gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin therapy.
