NMD1343

NMD1343 is a novel, orally bioavailable small molecule inhibitor of the muscle-specific chloride ion channel ClC-1. Developed by NMD Pharma, it is designed to treat rare and severe neuromuscular diseases by enhancing neuromuscular transmission. By inhibiting ClC-1, the drug aims to restore muscle function in conditions where neuromuscular signaling is impaired. As of May 2023, NMD1343 entered Phase I clinical development in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers. It represents a differentiated candidate in NMD Pharma's pipeline, following their lead candidate NMD670, which also targets the ClC-1 channel.
