Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NMDP-04 is a preclinical-stage small molecule inhibitor of the skeletal muscle-specific chloride channel ClC-1, currently under development by NMD Pharma. The ClC-1 channel is primarily responsible for maintaining the resting membrane conductance of skeletal muscle fibers; its inhibition increases the excitability of the muscle fiber membrane. This mechanism is designed to compensate for impaired neuromuscular transmission, thereby improving muscle strength and reducing fatigue. NMDP-04 is being investigated for the treatment of rare neuromuscular diseases where muscle excitability is compromised.
