Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NMDP-05 is a preclinical-stage small molecule inhibitor of the skeletal muscle-specific chloride ion channel ClC-1, developed by NMD Pharma. The drug is designed to enhance neuromuscular transmission and improve muscle function by reducing the chloride conductance of the skeletal muscle fiber membrane. In healthy muscle, ClC-1 channels stabilize the resting membrane potential; however, in conditions of neuromuscular junction failure or muscle weakness, inhibiting these channels can increase membrane excitability and facilitate the generation of action potentials. This mechanism aims to restore muscle strength and function in patients suffering from various neuromuscular disorders.
