Overview

NMJ-3 is a novel small molecule histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor, specifically characterized as a cinnamyl sulfonamide-hydroxamic acid derivative. It has demonstrated neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties in preclinical models of neurodegenerative disorders. In studies involving MPTP-induced Parkinson's disease and Aβ-induced Alzheimer's disease models, NMJ-3 has been shown to inhibit oxidative stress, reduce neuroinflammation, and restore dopamine levels in the striatum. By modulating epigenetic pathways through HDAC inhibition, it protects neuronal cells from degeneration and improves locomotor and cognitive deficits in animal models.
