Overview

NMP5 is an organic bacteriochlorin derivative that functions as an activatable near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent probe. It is designed for in vivo imaging, emitting at a peak wavelength of 770 nm. This probe can be conjugated to targeting agents such as galactosyl-human serum albumin (hGSA) or glucosyl-human serum albumin (glu-HSA) to specifically bind to H-type lectins, including the β-d-galactose receptor, which is expressed on ovarian cancer cells. The probe exhibits quenched fluorescence upon conjugation, which is then reversed after cell binding and internalization, allowing for multicolor NIR fluorescence imaging with a single excitation source. It has been studied in preclinical models for disseminated ovarian cancer.
