Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**NMRC-M3V-Ad-PfCA** is an investigational multivalent, non-replicating human adenovirus serotype 5 vaccine developed by the Naval Medical Research Center for prevention of *Plasmodium falciparum* malaria. The product combines two recombinant Ad5 vectors: one encoding *P. falciparum* circumsporozoite protein and one encoding apical membrane antigen 1. By expressing these parasite antigens in vaccinated individuals, it is intended to elicit humoral and cellular immune responses against pre-erythrocytic and blood-stage malaria parasites. In a Phase 1/2a controlled human malaria infection study, the vaccine was reported to be safe, well tolerated, and immunogenic, but it did not provide protective efficacy against controlled human malaria infection.
