Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NmVac4 is a quadrivalent meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine designed to provide active immunization against invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135. As an unconjugated polysaccharide vaccine, it consists of purified capsular polysaccharides from the four targeted serogroups. It is primarily indicated for use in adolescents aged 11-12 and older populations to prevent life-threatening conditions such as meningitis and bloodstream infections (septicemia). While meningococcal conjugate vaccines are generally preferred due to their ability to induce immunological memory and provide longer-lasting protection, NmVac4 serves as an effective alternative for primary immunization when conjugate options are unavailable.
