Overview

NN-104 is a preclinical-stage nanobody (single-domain antibody) developed by NanoNewron as part of its NewroBus platform. It is designed to target Transferrin Receptor 1 (TfR1), a protein expressed on the brain capillary endothelial cells that form the blood-brain barrier (BBB). NN-104 functions as a molecular shuttle, utilizing receptor-mediated transcytosis to facilitate the transport of therapeutic payloads—such as proteins, antibodies, or small molecules—from the systemic circulation into the central nervous system (CNS). This platform is intended to overcome the delivery challenges associated with treating CNS diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's disease, by enabling therapeutic agents to bypass the restrictive nature of the BBB.
