Overview

NN9925 is a synthetic peptide drug developed by Novo Nordisk as an oral glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonist. It was investigated primarily for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. As a GLP-1R agonist, NN9925 mimics the action of endogenous GLP-1 by activating its receptor, which leads to enhanced glucose-dependent insulin secretion, reduced glucagon release, delayed gastric emptying, and appetite suppression. These mechanisms contribute to improved glycemic control and potential weight loss in patients with type 2 diabetes. The compound reached phase 1 clinical trials focused on evaluating safety, tolerability, and bioavailability in healthy male subjects but has not advanced further in development[1][2].
