Overview

NNC0165-1875 is a synthetic peptide analogue of the appetite-regulating hormone peptide YY (PYY), specifically designed as a long-acting agonist of the neuropeptide Y receptor type 2 (NPY2R). Developed by Novo Nordisk, it is intended for once-weekly subcutaneous administration to treat obesity. The drug mimics the action of endogenous PYY3–36, which reduces appetite and food intake by activating Y2 receptors in the brain, particularly within hypothalamic pathways involved in satiety regulation. As of late 2022, NNC0165-1875 has completed phase II clinical trials for obesity, including studies evaluating its use both as monotherapy and in combination with semaglutide[1][2][4][6][7].
