Overview

NNC0361-0041 is an investigational plasmid-based DNA therapy designed to modulate the immune response in type 1 diabetes. Developed by Novo Nordisk, this therapeutic vaccine delivers a plasmid vector encoding sequences intended to induce immune tolerance by expressing preproinsulin (PPI), transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1), interleukin 10 (IL-10), and interleukin 2 (IL-2). The goal is to retrain the immune system and halt its autoimmune attack on insulin-producing pancreatic beta cells. Preclinical studies suggest that this approach may help preserve endogenous insulin secretion in people with type 1 diabetes. The drug is administered subcutaneously as a solution for injection, with dosing regimens tested in ascending weekly doses over a period of twelve weeks[4][6][9].
