Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NNC0519-0130 is a novel synthetic peptide drug under development by Novo Nordisk for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity. It acts as a dual agonist at both the glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1R) and the gastric inhibitory polypeptide receptor (GIPR), also known as glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor. By activating these incretin hormone receptors, it is expected to lower blood glucose levels and reduce body weight through enhanced insulin secretion and appetite suppression. The drug is being evaluated in multiple clinical trials with subcutaneous injection as the primary route of administration; oral formulations are also under investigation[4][5][6][7][8][10]. As of June 2025, it has reached Phase II clinical development for type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity[4][5].
