Overview

NNC151-0000 (also known as NNC 0151-0000-0000) is an investigational human monoclonal antibody developed by Novo Nordisk for the treatment of active rheumatoid arthritis. It functions as an interleukin-21 (IL-21) antagonist, binding to and neutralizing the IL-21 cytokine. IL-21 is a pro-inflammatory factor that promotes the differentiation of Th17 cells and the proliferation of B cells, contributing to the chronic inflammation and joint destruction characteristic of rheumatoid arthritis. The drug was evaluated in Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials (e.g., NCT01202773) to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacodynamics in patients with active RA. Development of NNC151-0000 was eventually terminated as part of Novo Nordisk's strategic decision to exit the inflammatory disease space.
