Overview

NNC2220 is a long-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist developed by Novo Nordisk. It is primarily investigated for its metabolic effects in the treatment of obesity and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). As a GLP-1 receptor agonist, NNC2220 mimics the action of the endogenous incretin hormone GLP-1, which regulates glucose homeostasis and suppresses appetite. In preclinical models, NNC2220 has demonstrated the ability to significantly reduce food intake and promote weight loss. It is often studied in combination with glucagon receptor agonists (such as NNC9204-0043) to evaluate synergistic effects on weight reduction and the improvement of hepatic lipid metabolism, specifically targeting the reduction of hepatic triglycerides.
