NO-modified autologous tumor vaccine is an experimental cancer immunotherapy consisting of autologous tumor cells treated with a nitric oxide (NO) donor. The vaccine is prepared by culturing tumor cells (e.g., B16-F0 melanoma) in the presence of a slow-release NO donor, which immuno-sensitizes the cells by regulating apoptosis-related genes and modifying protein structures. The cells are then homogenized into a crude lysate for administration. In preclinical models, this modification has been shown to significantly decrease tumor growth rates and increase survival by promoting a robust therapeutic immune response against cancer cells.
