Drug intelligence / Profile preview
No. 1 Xiaoqian Prescription (also known as Xiao Chuan No. 1) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by Xiyuan Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is specifically formulated for the treatment of bronchial asthma and wheezing, particularly during the chronic or remission phases. The prescription is based on the clinical experience of renowned TCM practitioners at Xiyuan Hospital and is designed to tonify the lungs and kidneys, transform phlegm, and relieve wheezing. In clinical practice, it is often used to regulate the immune system, specifically by balancing Th1/Th2 cytokines and reducing serum IgE levels, thereby decreasing airway hyperresponsiveness and the frequency of acute exacerbations. It is a well-known component of the 'winter diseases treated in summer' (Dong Bing Xia Zhi) therapeutic protocols in China.
