Nocutil

Nocutil is a synthetic analog of the natural antidiuretic hormone vasopressin, containing desmopressin as the active ingredient. Developed and marketed by Apogepha, it is primarily used to treat central diabetes insipidus, a condition characterized by the kidneys' inability to conserve water due to a deficiency of antidiuretic hormone. Nocutil acts as a selective agonist for the vasopressin V2 receptors located in the collecting ducts of the kidneys. This activation increases the permeability of the ducts to water, leading to increased water reabsorption and a subsequent reduction in urine volume. The drug is available in several formulations to accommodate different patient needs, including oral tablets, sublingual "Melt" tablets, and a nasal spray.
