nokxaban

Nokxaban (also known as GCC-4401C) is an orally bioavailable small molecule direct Factor Xa inhibitor developed by GC Biopharma (formerly Green Cross Corporation). It was primarily investigated for the prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolism (VTE). As a member of the "xaban" class of anticoagulants, Nokxaban functions by selectively and reversibly binding to the active site of Factor Xa, a key serine protease in the coagulation cascade. By inhibiting Factor Xa, the drug prevents the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin, thereby reducing fibrin formation and inhibiting blood clot development. Clinical development reached Phase I, where studies evaluated its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics in healthy male subjects, demonstrating dose-dependent inhibition of Factor Xa activity and prolongation of clotting times.
