The Non-Typhoidal Salmonella (NTS) conjugate vaccine is a bivalent vaccine candidate developed by Bharat Biotech to prevent invasive Non-Typhoidal Salmonella (iNTS) infections. The vaccine targets the two most common serovars associated with iNTS disease: *Salmonella enterica* serovar Typhimurium and *Salmonella enterica* serovar Enteritidis. It utilizes a conjugate platform where the O-polysaccharide (O-antigen) from these bacteria is chemically linked to a carrier protein, such as tetanus toxoid. This conjugation enhances the immune response by engaging T-cells, which is particularly critical for providing protection in infants and young children who do not respond well to pure polysaccharide vaccines. The vaccine is currently in Phase 3 clinical development, aiming to address a significant public health burden in sub-Saharan Africa and other endemic regions.
