NONRATT021972 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to target and silence the long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) NONRATT021972. In the context of type 2 diabetes, NONRATT021972 is significantly upregulated and is positively associated with the development and severity of diabetic neuropathic pain. The siRNA works by mediating the sequence-specific degradation of NONRATT021972 transcripts, which subsequently leads to a decrease in the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, specifically tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α). Preclinical studies in rat models of diabetes have demonstrated that treatment with NONRATT021972 siRNA can attenuate inflammation and alleviate neuropathic pain behaviors, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic intervention for managing diabetic complications.
