Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nor-Ketamir is the principal active metabolite of Ketamir-2, a novel oral ketamine analog developed by MIRA Pharmaceuticals. Unlike traditional ketamine, which has low oral bioavailability and interacts with multiple receptor sites, Nor-Ketamir demonstrates near 100% oral bioavailability and superior selectivity for the NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) receptor. This results in sustained plasma levels, prolonged brain penetration, and extended therapeutic efficacy after oral administration. Preclinical studies indicate that Nor-Ketamir provides longer-lasting pain relief with fewer side effects compared to traditional ketamine or its FDA-approved alternatives for neuropathic pain. The compound is being investigated primarily for at-home treatment of neuropathic pain but may also have potential in cancer-related neuropathic pain, chemotherapy-induced depression, PTSD, and topical formulations for localized pain relief[1][2].
