Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NORDBIOTIC FeMAX is a probiotic-based dietary supplement developed by Nordic Biotic to support iron absorption and address iron deficiency. The formulation consists of a multilayer tablet containing two specific probiotic strains, *Lacticaseibacillus casei* (NORDBIOTIC™ LC130) and *Lacticaseibacillus paracasei* (NORDBIOTIC™ LPC100), combined with an innovative iron source. The mechanism of action involves a pH-related modulation in the gut environment that enhances the solubility and bioavailability of iron, potentially reducing the gastrointestinal side effects typically associated with high-dose iron supplementation. As of early 2024, the product is in the preclinical stage, with in vitro studies supporting its efficacy in improving iron availability.
