Norepinephrine + ascorbic acid is a combination of two agents, norepinephrine (a potent vasopressor and neurotransmitter) and ascorbic acid (vitamin C, an essential antioxidant and enzymatic cofactor). Ascorbic acid acts as a cofactor for dopamine β-hydroxylase, the enzyme that converts dopamine to norepinephrine, thereby enhancing endogenous synthesis of norepinephrine[1][2][5]. In conditions such as septic shock, where both vitamin C levels and catecholamine responsiveness may be depleted or impaired, high-dose intravenous vitamin C has been shown to increase plasma norepinephrine levels and reduce the need for exogenous vasopressors[3].
