Norethandrolone acts as an androgen receptor agonist, which is hypothesized to stimulate bone marrow recovery and potentially exert anti-leukemic effects. The trial, led by University Hospital, Grenoble, demonstrated that the addition of norethandrolone significantly improved 5-year disease-free survival and overall survival in this patient population compared to chemotherapy alone.
