norethindrone enanthate

Norethindrone enanthate is a synthetic progestogen (progestin) of the 19-nortestosterone group used primarily as a long-acting injectable contraceptive for women. It acts as an agonist of the progesterone receptor, suppressing ovulation and altering cervical mucus and endometrial lining to prevent pregnancy. Norethindrone enanthate is the C17β enanthate ester of norethisterone (norethindrone), making it a derivative of testosterone with modifications that enhance its progestogenic activity and duration. It was first introduced by Schering in 1957 under the brand name Noristerat and was notable as the first progestogen-only injectable contraceptive[2][4].
