norgestomet

Norgestomet is a synthetic steroidal progestin of the 19-norprogesterone group, developed for use in veterinary medicine. It is primarily used to control and synchronize estrus and ovulation in cattle. Norgestomet acts as an agonist of the progesterone receptor, exhibiting higher affinity for this receptor than natural progesterone. It has weak affinity for the glucocorticoid receptor at micromolar concentrations but does not significantly bind to estrogen receptors at therapeutic doses. The drug is typically administered via subcutaneous ear implant or injection, often in combination with estradiol valerate.
