Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Normacol Enema** is a rectal, single-dose phosphate enema marketed by **Norgine**. It contains sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate and disodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, which act locally as saline osmotic laxatives: the hyperosmotic phosphate solution draws water into the rectum and distal colon, softening stool and stimulating evacuation. The adult 130 mL presentation is indicated for occasional symptomatic treatment of lower constipation and for rectosigmoid bowel preparation before radiologic or endoscopic examination.
