Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NormoFlora-BV is a probiotic nutraceutical developed by MMC Pharmaceuticals for the management of bacterial vaginosis (BV) and the maintenance of urogenital health. Formulated as oral capsules, it typically contains specific strains of beneficial bacteria, such as *Lactobacillus rhamnosus* and *Lactobacillus reuteri*. These probiotics work by colonizing the vaginal epithelium and producing lactic acid, which lowers the vaginal pH to an acidic level (typically <4.5). This acidic environment inhibits the overgrowth of anaerobic pathogens like *Gardnerella vaginalis* and *Atopobium vaginae*, which are characteristic of dysbiosis in BV. NormoFlora-BV is used to restore a healthy vaginal microbiome, often as an adjunct to antibiotic therapy or to prevent recurrent infections in gynecological and urological contexts.
