Overview

Normoxic allogenic UCMSC is an investigational cell-based biologic therapy consisting of allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells derived from human umbilical cord tissue and expanded under normoxic (21% oxygen) conditions. Developed as an adjunctive treatment for severe COVID-19, these cells are administered intravenously to leverage their potent immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties. By secreting a variety of paracrine factors, the therapy aims to mitigate the systemic inflammatory response and cytokine storm associated with severe SARS-CoV-2 infection while promoting lung tissue repair. A multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled trial conducted in Indonesia evaluated the safety and efficacy of this specific cell preparation in improving clinical outcomes, respiratory parameters, and survival in hospitalized patients.
