Overview
CIN-1 is a human norovirus challenge pool derived from the GII.4 genotype, specifically developed by the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. It is utilized in controlled human infection models (CHIM) to evaluate the efficacy of norovirus vaccines and antiviral candidates. The pool was prepared from a stool sample of an infected individual (isolate 031693) and is administered orally to healthy, susceptible volunteers to determine the infectious dose and characterize the clinical course of norovirus-induced gastroenteritis. As a challenge agent, it serves as a standardized tool for clinical research rather than a therapeutic intervention.
