Overview

**Norpsilocin** is a tryptamine alkaloid (C11H14N2O, MW 190.24 g/mol) identified in 2017 in the hallucinogenic mushroom *Psilocybe cubensis*, where it occurs naturally and has been reported as a potential dephosphorylated metabolite of baeocystin. It acts as a near-full **agonist at the 5-HT2A receptor**, exhibiting higher potency than psilocin, with additional affinity for other serotonin receptors; it demonstrates good metabolic stability, blood-brain barrier penetration in animal models, and psychedelic properties associated with tryptamines.[1][5][7][8]
