Overview

North America anti-scorpion antivenom is a polyvalent antivenom composed of equine-derived F(ab')2 immunoglobulin fragments. Developed by Inosan Biopharma, it is specifically designed to neutralize the neurotoxins present in the venom of scorpions found in North America, such as the Arizona bark scorpion (*Centruroides sculpturatus*). The F(ab')2 fragments are produced by pepsin digestion of whole IgG from immunized horses, a process that removes the Fc portion to reduce the risk of adverse reactions (like serum sickness) while maintaining high binding affinity for venom components. The drug is intended for the treatment of systemic scorpion envenomation and is currently in the registration phase.
