Overview

North America Anti-Snake Antivenom is a polyvalent, equine-derived antivenom developed by Inosan Biopharma for the treatment of snake envenomation caused by North American pit vipers (subfamily Crotalinae). The therapeutic consists of F(ab')2 immunoglobulin fragments, which are produced by pepsin digestion of IgG from horses immunized with a mixture of venoms from species such as rattlesnakes (*Crotalus* and *Sistrurus*), copperheads (*Agkistrodon contortrix*), and cottonmouths (*Agkistrodon piscivorus*). This fragment-based approach is designed to neutralize venom toxins while minimizing the risk of Fc-mediated adverse reactions and serum sickness compared to whole IgG products. The product is currently in the registration phase for use in North America.
