Overview

Notoginsenoside Ft1 is a saponin compound isolated from the leaves and stems of Panax notoginseng, a plant used in traditional Chinese medicine. It acts as an agonist of the G-protein coupled bile acid receptor TGR5 (Gpbar-1) and as an antagonist of the farnesoid X receptor (FXR). Through these dual actions, it promotes adipose tissue lipolysis, fat browning, and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) secretion while modulating bile acid metabolism. Preclinical studies have shown that notoginsenoside Ft1 alleviates high-fat diet-induced obesity and insulin resistance in mice. The compound is being evaluated for its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and immunogenicity in healthy adult volunteers in a phase 1 clinical trial[3][4][7].
