Nourisil MD

Nourisil MD is a silicone-based scar gel developed by Fagron for the prevention and management of keloid and hypertrophic scars resulting from surgical procedures, wounds, trauma, or burns. It is classified as a Class I medical device and functions as a topical vehicle and pharmaceutical excipient. The product contains a unique blend of five medical-grade silicones and vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol). Its mechanism of action involves forming an invisible occlusive barrier that protects the scar and increases hydration, which helps to normalize collagen production at the scar site. Additionally, it modulates growth factors to alter fibroblast activation, thereby reducing extracellular matrix synthesis. Nourisil MD is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin and children, and is recommended as a first-line therapy for both the prevention and treatment of scars.
