Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NOV05 is a water-free, steroid-free topical ophthalmic solution of tacrolimus developed by Novaliq GmbH for the treatment of non-infectious anterior uveitis (NIAU). It utilizes the proprietary EyeSol® technology, which employs the semifluorinated alkane perfluorobutylpentane (F4H5) as a water-free vehicle to enhance drug delivery to the eye. Tacrolimus, the active ingredient, is a calcineurin inhibitor that functions as an immunosuppressant by inhibiting CD4+ T-cell activation and down-regulating the production of interleukin-2 (IL-2). NOV05 is designed to provide a potent anti-inflammatory effect without the side effects typically associated with long-term corticosteroid use, such as cataracts and elevated intraocular pressure.
