Overview

Nova-GM-CSF is a recombinant fusion protein being developed by Genoxa (Genova Biotech). It consists of a granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) polypeptide fused to a mutated Fc fragment of human immunoglobulin G (IgG). The drug is designed to act as an agonist of the GM-CSF receptor, which is essential for the production, differentiation, and functional activation of myeloid cells such as macrophages and granulocytes. By utilizing a mutated Fc fragment, the fusion protein is engineered to extend the half-life of the GM-CSF moiety in circulation while potentially reducing Fc-mediated effector functions like antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC). It is currently in preclinical development for unspecified indications requiring immune modulation or myeloid cell stimulation.
