NovaBone Putty is a synthetic, bioactive bone graft substitute and medical device used in orthopedic and dental surgery. It is composed of calcium phosphosilicate (CPS) bioactive glass particles in a bimodal size distribution, mixed with a binder of polyethylene glycol and glycerine. The putty is both osteoconductive, providing a physical scaffold for new bone growth, and osteostimulative, as it releases ions (calcium, phosphorus, and silica) that recruit and stimulate osteoblasts, upregulating genes associated with bone regeneration. It is fully resorbable and is indicated for filling bone defects in the extremities, spine, and cranio-maxillofacial regions, as well as for dental applications like periodontal repair.
