Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Novabupi** is a modified formulation of bupivacaine hydrochloride, a long-acting amide-type local anesthetic with an optimized enantiomeric ratio of S75:R25, developed by Cristália to reduce cardiotoxicity associated with the R-enantiomer while maintaining efficacy. It blocks sodium channels in nerve membranes, preventing depolarization and conduction of nerve impulses for local and regional anesthesia. Primarily used for surgical anesthesia, postoperative pain control, and spinal anesthesia in procedures like lower limb vascular surgery, it offers a sustained release profile in PLGA implants and hyperbaric formulations.
