Overview

Novachor is a fresh human placental allograft wound covering composed of unaltered chorion membrane derived from donated birth tissue and preserved hypothermically to maintain viable cells, native extracellular matrix, growth factors, cytokines, and structural proteins.[5][7][9][12] Developed and commercialized by Organogenesis for advanced wound care and surgical/sports medicine applications, it is used as a protective barrier and extracellular matrix scaffold to support the body’s inherent healing processes in a variety of partial- and full-thickness acute and chronic wounds, including those with exposed tendon, muscle, joint capsule, or bone.[2][4][5][6][7][10][12] As a biologic tissue allograft rather than a traditional pharmaceutical, its therapeutic effect is mediated by providing a biologically active matrix that modulates the wound environment, rather than by receptor-targeted pharmacologic action.
