Novavax shingles vaccine

Novavax is developing a recombinant protein-based nanoparticle vaccine for the prevention of shingles (herpes zoster), which is caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus (VZV). The vaccine candidate utilizes Novavax's proprietary recombinant nanoparticle technology and is formulated with the saponin-based Matrix-M® adjuvant to enhance the immune response. This platform is designed to elicit high levels of neutralizing antibodies and antigen-specific T-cell responses. The vaccine aims to provide a better-tolerated alternative to existing shingles vaccines by potentially reducing reactogenicity while maintaining high efficacy. It is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
