The novel oral polio vaccine type 3 (nOPV3) is a next-generation live-attenuated oral poliovirus vaccine specifically designed to protect against poliovirus serotype 3. It is part of the "novel" series of OPVs developed to address the risk of outbreaks caused by circulating vaccine-derived polioviruses (cVDPVs), which can occur with traditional Sabin-based vaccines. The nOPVs are engineered for greater genetic stability than earlier versions, reducing the likelihood that the attenuated virus will revert to a neurovirulent form and cause disease.
