Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Novo-Helisen Depot is a standardized allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT) product line developed by Allergopharma (a Dermapharm company). It consists of specific allergen extracts—such as house dust mites (*Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus* and *D. farinae*), pollens, or molds (*Alternaria alternata*)—adsorbed onto aluminum hydroxide to create a depot effect. This formulation allows for the sustained release of allergens following subcutaneous injection, facilitating the induction of peripheral immune tolerance. The treatment is indicated for IgE-mediated allergic conditions, including allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and allergic bronchial asthma, in both children and adults. The therapeutic goal is to desensitize the patient's immune system, shifting the response from a pro-inflammatory Th2 profile toward a regulatory T-cell (Treg) and Th1 profile, thereby reducing clinical symptoms and the requirement for symptomatic medication.
