Overview
Novo-Helisen Depot house dust mites is an approved subcutaneous allergen immunotherapy (SCIT) product developed by Allergopharma. It consists of a native, aluminum hydroxide-adsorbed extract of house dust mites, specifically a 50/50 mixture of *Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus* and *Dermatophagoides farinae*. The therapy is indicated for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, and allergic (bronchial) asthma triggered by house dust mite allergens in adults and adolescents. It works by modulating the immune system's response to these allergens, shifting the balance from a Th2-mediated allergic response toward a more tolerant immune profile (Th1/Treg), thereby reducing symptoms and the need for symptomatic medication. A simplified 'One Strength' up-dosing scheme is approved for this product, allowing for a faster escalation phase.
