**NOVOCART 3D** is a patient-specific, matrix-associated autologous chondrocyte implantation product for repair of localized full-thickness articular cartilage defects of the knee. It is manufactured from chondrocytes harvested from the individual patient, expanded ex vivo, and seeded onto a bioresorbable biphasic collagen scaffold that is surgically implanted into the cartilage defect. The implanted autologous cartilage cells are intended to regenerate cartilage-like repair tissue and improve knee pain and function. The product originated at Tetec and has been studied against microfracture in Phase 3 trials; Octane Biotherapeutics subsequently acquired Tetec and is advancing the Novocart platform.
